Advertisement Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Hi ho_co, Take a look here M8 (2.005) + Coded 35 'Cron (IV) + UV/IR Filter = Magenta Sides?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jark89 Posted September 30, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted September 30, 2010 That's more like it! Glad to hear you solved it! Still don't "understand" why this is though. At one point I thought it was due to incorrect self-lens-coding, since my lens' coding spot has a screw there. However, I examined the coding chart, and I don't think it could be "mistakenly" coded as a different 35mm given the coding strips. So...weird! ho_co Posted September 30, 2010 Share #23 Posted September 30, 2010 I'm buffaloed as well. As you said, it makes no sense. Whatever it was, at least you've got a workaround. As you saw from responses here, a properly coded 35mm lens won't exhibit the effect you got. And you've discovered that it will work fine uncoded, so the only thing you'd gain from coding would be getting the information into the EXIF. If Leica won't code your lens because of the location of the screw, you could check with DAG. My old uncoded 28 Elmarit produced colored edges. I had him code it since Leica wouldn't, and it works fine now.
Jark89 Posted October 1, 2010 Author Share #24 Posted October 1, 2010 Yes the coding is basically for the EXIF info, so not a big deal. I'm not sure if Leica would or would not code it, since I never sent it in, hahaha...Guess I'll just leave it like this for the time being.
ho_co Posted October 1, 2010 Share #25 Posted October 1, 2010 Just for completeness' sake: You can download Leica's list of codable lenses from Leica Camera AG - Downloads. Other people besides Leica can code these and others as well.
