leica007 Posted September 24, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Could you kindly recommended a good (non- Apple Mac ) LAPTOP [budget $1200] for processing M9 files smoothly / on-the-fly in Photoshop CS5? rob_x2004 Posted September 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2010 Thinkpads must be about to have an upgrade, there are some hyper specials about at the moment. IBM stuff has always been pretty reliable for me despite knocking it about. Let me know what you turn up, I'm kinda sorta in the same position, it would occasionally be handy to have one for travel but to be honest I think what I will wind up doing is taking an SD card and file copy in camera then use local print shops software for anything I want to print out. leica007 Posted December 14, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted December 14, 2010 Have finally purchased the laptop. The choice was between HP Envy 14 [with Radiance screen ] and the newly launched Dell XPS 15 [with Full HD screen]. Went with Dell, which turned out to be a great computer. Windows 7 is suprisingly smooth, not missing Mac OSX SL. No regret having migrated away from Apple - sorry, no longer willing to pay that Apple Tax - have spent the money on 8GB Ram and upgrades, and this laptop is snappy. Photoshop and Lightroom are a breeze. And the screen is to die for.
