That would be a fantastic for a RF camera. Fix for focus shift and RF mis-calibration.

 

I wonder what kind of aperture you need to use to be able to completely shift the plane of focus like that, I suspect that it all has to be inside dof - so a small aperture? Also interesting to see how much (if any) resolution of fine detail is lost.

 

In any case, assuming you were actually trying to focus on the subject, but got it slightly oof then presumably the corrections required to just move to what you originally wanted would be small.

 

I wonder if Leica could use this set of lenses to replace the existing micro-lens array they already use on the sensor - so it would serve two purposes.
