Guest Overview Posted September 22, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like goofy stuff or I wouldn't have an M-9 in the first place. After reading all the expert reviews on 21mm lenses for the M body... and the the great qualities of the Zeiss .... I found a mint Kobalux because it wasn't. I do have fun doing this y'know? Yup, man is it soft in the corners. I like it! And, with the manual 21mm set in the body there is no vignetting and just the slightest amount of magenta cast on the left edge which can be removed with one swipe of the brush in Lightroom. I was wondering if anyone has tried this contraption on a M-9? Unprocessed examples: Picasa Web Albums - Rip Tragle - Kobalux 21mm ...
Advertisement Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Hi Guest Overview, Take a look here Kobalux 21mm, f2.8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
garygsandhu Posted September 23, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 23, 2010 Alas, I sold my M9 before I received the 21/2.8 kobalux (avenon). It works great on my M8, though.
XK50 Posted September 24, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 24, 2010 I've got the PAS branded version (see Stephen Gandy's site for actual lens on a CL). The thing works a treat on the M9, also. Excellent, sharp images from f4. When set manually to "21mm", my copy has no sign of vignetting or red corners. Its images are not as "bright" as my new Summilux Asph, more reminsicent of a pre-asph Summicron, and so I prefer the contrast turned up a trace, in processing. For further support of this lens, do a search on Kobalux in the forum. There's a printing specialist who, earlier this year, did some huge images using this combinationation. Have fun. Guest Overview Posted September 24, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 24, 2010 Thanks for your input guys. I've been very happy with the results using this lens. The shoe mount viewfinder is a bit of a hoot. The thing is huge, round, and about 11/2" in diameter. Quite a spectacle when mounted! Perhaps it would go well with the stylish Titanium version?
