BennehBoy Posted September 19, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a 50mm Anniversary Summicron, it looks to have what I think is slight balsam failure, approximately 50% of on of the internal elements exhibits a rainbow type pattern - this does not appear to affect any images I take with it - samples one on this link: My question is, how much should this impact the resale value of the lens, its overall condition is pretty good - I'd like to sell it and put the proceeds toward a 35mm lens, probably a nokton 35/1.4. BennehBoy Posted September 19, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted September 19, 2010 I forgot to say that it's the 70th anniversary edition from 1983, if anyone has a rough indication of value I'd be very appreciative, I think that in excellent condition they go for around 700 GBP. BennehBoy Posted September 21, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted September 21, 2010 bump.... Does a third off sound reasonable to cover this defect? Just noticed I missed off the sample image link... http://www.flickr.com/photos/bennehboy/5004056388/

This would eliminate the problem and provide the buyer with some confidence about the lens condition.
BennehBoy Posted September 21, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted September 21, 2010 Wouldn't a balsam failure require one of the pairs to be re-cemented - rather than just some cleaning?
