gpleica Posted September 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just finished renting an S2 from David Farkas at Dale Photo and I have a question concerning the drive mode. I was shooting landscapes in Northern Michigan with the camera on a tripod and the drive mode set to 2 second delay so I could minimize vibration since this activates the mirror lockup. My problem was that every time the camera went to sleep or when I turned it off, the drive mode reverted to "single". Is there a way to lock the camera into a specific drive mode, much like other settings, like ISO, image playback etc.? As much as I've enjoyed my M9 for the past year, one look at the files from the S2 in Lightroom today confirms in me the conviction that there is a place for this camera in my work. I think the reason there are few posts to this section of the forum must be because those working with the S2 fully recognize its limitations and its attributes and are too busy making use of them. Thanks for the reply. Geoffrey Milford, PA

JMacD Posted September 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2010 Geoffrey, I too love the automatic mirror lock up as a single menu step. The fact that it resets to single when I turn the camera off is a plus for me when I want to quickly revert to single mode in a way without looking at the menu. If you don't want that to occur, set a custom function that keeps the drive as a 2 sec delay mirror up. I am assuming that a custom user set will easily do this, but haven't done it myself yet to be sure. David knows. You are right, all of us users are shooting rather than posting. The fact that there are so few posts is because there are no problems to complain about as there were on the M8. Well, except for wanting more lenses. So many of the posts are from non users who complained LR2 was not good enough processing software, but LR3.2 has addressed most of that except for tether speed. Not an issue for you and landscapes. Love to see one of your shots from Michigan on the photo forum side.
