fotohuis Posted September 16, 2010 Share #41 Posted September 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) E-6 chemicals you can not keep long when the seal is broken because they are filled under inert gas. Further E-6 development is much more critiqual in temperature and pH control. E-6 is offered from Kodak and Tetenal. C-41 has a bit more temperature deviation possibility and the chemicals can be kept longer. Also here Kodak, Tetenal, Rollei (Digibase C-41) and Fuji Hunt. In the past you had also Agfa and Amaloco. Last was working with monoconcentrate and a CD2 component. So only C-41 developer in monoconcentrate and a Blix. The Rollei Digibase C-41 (in fact a small Fuji Hunt version) is working with 3 C-41 components A+B+C and a starter, then Bleach, Fix and a Stabilizer included. C-41 you have to do on 37,8C within +/- 0,5C. With some kits the tolerance is a bit bigger +0,5 / - 1C. The easiest way is a Jobo rotation processor CPE-2+ / CPA-2 / CPP-2 with elevator. The Jobo drum is (in reverse) rotating with a small volume of chemicals in a temperatured controlled water bath. With the elevator you can put in and out very easily the chemicals in the right sequence. Timing and temperature can be controlled in a narrow deviation. The same set up you can use for B&W development only you can ommit the water bath and run on so called Leicht Roller / Easy Rollers on room temeprature. Only high acutance B&W developers are less suitable to develop in rotary processing. Washing the film can be done according the Ilford washing method in the Jobo tank. Only for the wetting agent you have to take out the reels and put them for a minute in the wetting agent. Then the film(s) can be taken out and dried. Advertisement Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Hi fotohuis, Take a look here M8 gone...back to film for me!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
WigglePig Posted September 16, 2010 Author Share #42 Posted September 16, 2010 It is not that digital is more or less expensive than film it is that there is not a cheap(er) option for digital repair (yet). Will there ever be a cheaper option, will Wigglypig ever fly, who knows? That is precisely the problem...I can get my M2 or M6 fixed in any one of a number of places but the M8/9 has got to go back to Solms. If the autofocus M10 sells badly and kills Leica Camera, repair and service support for that M8/9/10 is gone. Fotohuis...what is that beastie? fotohuis Posted September 16, 2010 Share #43 Posted September 16, 2010 Fotohuis...what is that beastie? That's a Jobo CPA-2 with elevator processor. It's suitable for all types of chemical processing (films) and also for paper (drum) processing.
WigglePig Posted September 16, 2010 Author Share #44 Posted September 16, 2010 Thanks. That looks like just the thing I need for doing some C41! I shall investigate.
juergen Posted September 16, 2010 Share #45 Posted September 16, 2010 Thanks. That looks like just the thing I need for doing some C41! I shall investigate. I just gave a Jobo Color processor away for free. Another option would be the Jobo CPE-2 Juergen
