The_hog Posted September 10, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm getting really frustrated here guys, and girls. Been looking out for the proverbial new 50mm for several months now. Am not going to buy one of Ebay for a USD 1000 premium. The M9 seems to be more available now, - some say a week's delivery delay right now. But does anyone have any news of the Summilux 50? What's the story - anyone? When can I buy one at retail price, and where? Best, Arni
Advertisement Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Hi The_hog, Take a look here So - where is the Summilux 50. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

RoySmith Posted September 10, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2010 I just ordered a black one from Jean at Leica Boutique in Montreal. He has some on order and expects to have me one by the end of this month . I'm not sure if chrome lens are as fast. He had a relatively quick delivery for my M9 in March and is very good to deal with. I'm not sure if he delivers to Reykjavík, but it's easy to ask. tdtaylor Posted September 10, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 10, 2010 Received mine about 2 weeks ago. Placed an order with Robert White and waited about three months. May just have to go on a list, otherwise it appears you may be waiting a while.

michali Posted September 11, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 11, 2010 Try Red Dot Cameras, they advertise on this Forum. Both Black & Chrome 50mm Summilux show in stock: Red Dot Cameras - Leica Cameras, Leica Binoculars, Metz Flashguns, Manfrotto Tripods, Leitz Leica Shop in Vienna also shows the same in stock: https://www.leicashop.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=71_68_38_61 Just hope that their websites are up to date with stock. I've bought equipment from both, they're very reliable to deal with. I spoke with my dealer in France yesterday who normally has stocks of just about every new piece of Leica equipment, FYI got my M9 on 10Sept. last year from him no waiting and a new Summilux 50mm straight off the shelf. He said that for the first time in years he has no new Leica lenses in stock....... Good luck.
mgreernz Posted September 11, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Same here in NZ. There's been the occasional chrome, but nothing in black since I don't know when. I'm also one of those standing hopefully in line.

The_hog Posted September 11, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted September 11, 2010 Mike, your info was immensely useful, I have now made an order with both parties, and hopefully one or the other will have one available. Many thanks.

Both Black & Chrome 50mm Summilux show in stock:Red Dot Cameras - Leica Cameras, Leica Binoculars, Metz Flashguns, Manfrotto Tripods, Leitz . I'm not sure Red Dot have them in stock. I ordered a black 50mm Summilux with them in early August and am on a waiting list, which they've told me hasn't got any shorter...
leicashot Posted September 11, 2010 Share #11 Posted September 11, 2010 Walked into my local store and got one for a friend they had in stock. They're around but you need to look very closely.
sblutter Posted September 13, 2010 Share #12 Posted September 13, 2010 Just received mine today - sorry to those still waiting (its worth it) Ebay, list price - $3650, had a high rating and I communicated prior to committing. Is as new as was advertised - very happy, initial tests are wonderful - glad I kept 46mm ND filters to take advantage of 1.4 in daylight. The rear element had to be cleaned, that was it
The_hog Posted September 13, 2010 Author Share #13 Posted September 13, 2010 I followed Mike's two leads and got the same reply from both, "Lens sold out worldwide, we'll put you on a list. Expect several months wait".

The_hog Posted September 28, 2010 Author Share #18 Posted September 28, 2010 Lucky you Roy !! Problem is, if I order from Canada or the US of A things become 25% more expensive for me compared to ordering from the UK or the rest of Europe. This is because of the VAT system. So I'll wait for something surfacing on this side of the Pond.
RoySmith Posted September 29, 2010 Share #19 Posted September 29, 2010 Lucky you Roy !! Problem is, if I order from Canada or the US of A things become 25% more expensive for me compared to ordering from the UK or the rest of Europe. This is because of the VAT system. So I'll wait for something surfacing on this side of the Pond. It is worth the wait. This is my second Leica lens. I've enjoyed the 35 cron. I'm now loving the 50 lux wide open with its silky brokeh.
