ho_co Posted October 12, 2010 Share #21 Posted October 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) ... see if I should trade this Nikon in for a Leica D-Lux 5? ... One more thing to consider, though: Yes, it's a Leica, but is it going to do what you want? You chose a Nikon dSLR instead of one of their point-n-shoots. Think the same way here: Do you want a point-n-shoot, or a more sophisticated camera? There might be a better choice for you, maybe in the Micro FourThirds market, or a different Nikon. In other words, I could ask if a D90 is a "real Nikon." But that question doesn't answer the real question, which is: Is it the right one for me? I use my D-Lux 4 daily. I also have an M8, which gets a lot of use. And I've got a Nikon D200, which I seldom use. Just my preferences. So, "is the D-Lux 5 a Leica?" Yes. But, "should I trade in my Nikon for a D-Lux 5?" That depends a lot on you and what you want to do. You've probably already thought of all that, but I just want to be sure.
Advertisement Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Hi ho_co, Take a look here Get D-Lux 4 now or wait for D-Lux 5?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
macjim Posted January 27, 2011 Share #22 Posted January 27, 2011 Update: in the end I decided to keep the D90 and I bought the D-Lux 5 in December. I now carry the Leica everywhere and it's one very nice camera! The photo quality is superb for such a small camera - you can see some fine photography on flickr at the 'Leica d-lux 5 group'. Cheers
