reginaldwatkins Posted September 3, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted September 3, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) All, Â My latest copy of LFI has disappeared, me thinks I accidentally threw it away! There was an article in it that gave the specific Nikon flash cords one should use with the X1 and Dlux4. (SF 24D and the CF22 flash units) It indicated that these two cords had the correct "pin" configuration for the flash to work properly. Can someone please share with me the two Nikon cords recommended for each? Â Thanks in advance for your kind assistance. Â Reggie

carlosecpf Posted September 3, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted September 3, 2010 The Cable is the Nikon SC-17. I have one and it works like a charm with my X1
lars_bergquist Posted September 3, 2010 Share #3 Â Posted September 3, 2010 The article recommended the SC-17 for both the X1 and the D-Lux 4. The pin configuration is the same on both these cameras, and also for Nikon cameras in general. SC cables with lower numbers also work; I have used a SC-15. You do not want higher-numbered cables because these have diverse extra facilities that you don't want and cannot use. Â An alternative is the Nissin SC-01 which is a "universal" cable that claims to fit both Nikon and Canon pins. I can only confirm that it works with my M9 and SF24D. This cable however has an extra shoe on top of the connector on the camera side. This means that you can use both the cable and an accessory finder at the same time. Â I would also strongly recommend trying to fit a wrist strap to the flash-end connector. Othewrwise, holding the camera and the flash and trying to adjust the aperture takes three hands, which is not standard equipment. I would also recmmend a visit to Sean Reid's site (http://www.reidreviews.com) were the piece on Working With Flash alone is worth the modest fee Sean demands. lars_bergquist Posted September 3, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted September 3, 2010 Correction! The D-Lux 4 needs a Canon cable. The cable recommended by the LFI is the Off Camera Shoe Cord 2 (what a handy name ...) The arrangement of the pins is different in the D-Lux from that of the X-1, which is standard Leica. Â The rest of the info in my posting I do stand by. Â The old man with his eyebrows slightly singed

Nicoleica Posted September 5, 2010 Share #6 Â Posted September 5, 2010 Just got the flash in the mail today, so now I'm off to find the flash cord. Thank you very much for the information. Â If you can't find an SC-17, the SC-28 works just as well.
