John Thawley Posted September 10, 2010 Share #41 Posted September 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well I have to close the loop on my previous remarks. The made-for-film lenses have a full-format image circle, which of course is larger than an APS sensor. So doing what I said with the D60, you are actually missing a big chunk of the lens's image. So, for the experience of using your old manual lenses to their best extent, you need a camera with a full-frame sensor (as Pete stated up above). I'll shut up now (but I do like this little D60 anyway). Dave: Don't think for a minute that it doesn't cross my mind to find a killer fast 35mm prime and throw it on my 5DMK11. Without the battery grip, this wouldn't be a bad package either. Plus with the high ISO capabilities, I'd be out there shooting by candle light. LOL - The thoughts of shooting with a one lens prime, high ISO, small package is quite intoxicating... as is the $10K I'd have in my pocket from not buying an M9. Of course, I don't even think the M9 could touch the 6400 ISO of a 5DMK11. JT
Advertisement Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Hi John Thawley, Take a look here Everything ready for the NEW DIGILUX 2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
kamilsukun Posted September 15, 2010 Author Share #42 Posted September 15, 2010 However, if the 5MP sensor is replaced to an approximately 10MP or higher version it means that the 8.2MP/cm2 pixel density of the original camera will be changed to an approximately 16-20MP/cm2 in the new one. I must admit that I am not sure how successfully this issue can be handled. On the other hand Andy Piper writes that the lens is capable of handling 10MP. If he says so we have every right to be optimistic for a new D2.
krabat Posted September 15, 2010 Share #43 Posted September 15, 2010 At least I would not insist on having 10 MP. Eight MP would also do, more important would be to achieve higher ISO speed and lesser noise with a new sensor chip.

kamilsukun Posted September 20, 2010 Author Share #46 Posted September 20, 2010 I read the Fuji's arrival at dpreview today. It looks like a promising camera. Cameras of similar category are available today from Sigma, Ricoh, Nikon, Panasonic and X1 of course. However the 'poetic elegance' of the images produced by D2 is quite difficult to produce I understand. In this fast pace of the vast technical developments and new camera introductions of the photo industry who could imagine a (quite) small format digital camera to be talked about after 6 years of it's launch. Probably the person(s) who lead the overall project design and worked for the development of D2 did. Thanks to her/him/them.
