Hello chaps,

I haven't posted in ages, been fairly busy with summer shooting, weddings mainly.

Recently I met a friend who suggested setting the camera to DNG + JPEG BASIC. The jpeg giving a basic B&W review of the shot. I just wanted to say that this is an excellent method of taking photos, and I have been greatly impressed with the quality of B&W jpegs the M8 produced. My photos of late have required little editing if any, so for web uploading, it saves a lot of time, and I still have the DNG to play with if so desired.

I'm sure many of you will already do this, and I am a little behind the times, but thought it was worth sharing.

Best wishes,

SY

PS. The attached photo was taken on Friday 27 August, grandfather and grandchild, or what the family call, MiniMe as the little one greatly resembles his grandfather.

Shiva, I did this for a long time as well, starting with the EPSON R-D1, than going over, setting my Nikon DLSR with a BW setting for review and later also with the M8.2.

As I use the screen less and less though (just for a quick confirmation of exposure or focus, when in a tricky scene, where I could retake the photo), I stopped setting the camera for RAW + JPG.

I find the M8.2 much more responsive, when just shooting DNG. This is preferred to me, as I process my files in Lightroom anyway.

For quick uploads for web or mail, I have some quick presets, I use, that save me time ;-)

Hi,

Yes I too find the camera more responsive when using just DNG, in fact when doing a live music gig last night, I turned off the JPEG setting altogether.

I think the M8 and M8.2 share the same image processor, so response times will be same?

What quick presets do you use? Are you difficult to set up?

Best wishes,

Best wishes,

When I want a quick processing of a batch of photos, I just take one photo, make a basic processing and safe this as a profile within Lightroom.

I then use this profile on the other images and only do little touch ups on the shots, that stand out with wrong exposure, etc.

This works very quick for me.

I can use these profiles the next time, I import images directly from import on them and have even less mouse clicks ;-)

Lightroom is really great!
