Erl I thought that moderators were required to be impartial but it seems whenever a thread goes off and I am involved I am the only one who gets the blame from you.

Try not to single me out I hate a lot of attitudes in threads that you would probably deam ok but that doesn't entitle me to demand someone to get chastised just because I don't like it.

You accuse me of something and don't say what it is and then opt out by say

The first offensive comment I see posted in this thread is:

Clearly the person posting this comment seems to be very arrogant and rude. I found phancj's responses to be measured despite the other person's clearly obnoxious remarks. I would suggest that the other persons comments be ignored and not responded to.

 

Now coming back to facts:

 

- it does not matter how big Panasonic is or how the fast the new lens is. You can come up with a F0.0 lens for 4/3. Given that at this time 4/3s image quality at base ISO is INFERIOR to the X1, it will not matter how fast the lens is.

 

- Regarding phancj's comment about DSLR being popular even with the young crowd : a casual observation of the hordes of tourists in NYC substantiates this. I am surprised to see many young persons, particularly from China and Japan toting DSLRs. Either that or they have small P&S.

Thanks Ravinj. It could well be that the original poster was peeved that I brought up the deficiency of 4/3 compared to say an APS-C when original thread started out on a release of a new lens. But since the title was "new ammunition for 4/3" I would think that the lens together with the camera need to be seen as a collective system. Therefore if the sensor itself or the format may not measure up against other sensors (for example APS-C) then it is an issue to be brought up in a healthy discussion.

 

Of course, I would take the high road henceforth and leave the person alone. But I am more than happy that the moderator has quickly grasped the situation and put an end to that person's nonsense. In a forum like Leica there seems to be much more detractors with axe to grind and I tell myself it is probably a big case of sour grapes. Meanwhile, we will continue to have healthy discussion, take more great photos with our latest gear, and have fun doing all that!
