msg Posted August 21, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey all. I haven't been on here in a while (not that anyone would remember me) but I just picked up a CL and wanted to know if I got a good deal. I paid $380 for it with a case, a Summmicron-C 40 and an Elmar 90 f4. All is very very clean. I bid on it at a local thrift store. Also, I have read that these lenses can be used quite well on an M3. Anyone recommend using these lenses on an M3 and any problems? Last question, are there any quirks or things I should know about this CL before shooting a roll through it. The battery is dead and I am just going to guesstimate. Thanks guys! Matthew

storybrown Posted August 21, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 21, 2010 congratulations - CLs & their lenses are tops; the meter can be quirkly - mine works but I usually pay little attention: use sunny 16 or a handheld & fire away . . .
gvaliquette Posted August 21, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 21, 2010 ... The battery is dead and I am just going to guesstimate... Matthew, I also got a used CL a few years ago, with a dead meter. Sherry Krauter replaced the meter cell as part of a CLA for a very reasonnable price. Consider getting the meter repaired, it's worth it, especially for use indoors. msg Posted August 21, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted August 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the replies guys! I just shot a roll through and am looking forward to seeing the results. The first time I shot my M3 everything was soft. I had realized after shooting a roll that it was a collapsible lens. I felt like an idiot but learned my lesson. I'll see if I made any rookie Leica errors with this one.

dennersten Posted August 24, 2010 Share #10 Posted August 24, 2010 I love the Summicron 40, that must be the most underestimated Leica lens ever.

Matthew Hi Matthew. I use the MR-9 adapter with silver oxide cells. Works really well and longer cell life than Wein cells. Guy
