GMB Posted August 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I used the M9 with the 28 mm cron and the pol filter and got these reflections (BTW, shots from the same position with the 24 and no pol filter did not show any reflections). Is there a smart way to remove them in either PS or LR (i.e., not a painful use of the clone tool)? Thanks. Advertisement Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Hi GMB, Take a look here How to remove this reflection. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chuckw Posted August 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 18, 2010 If you have PS CS5 use the new "content aware fill" option. If not, I'm afraid that it would be a "painful" use of the clone tool.
hoppyman Posted August 18, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 18, 2010 That certainly is an interesting artefact. As Chuck mentioned the Content Aware Fill tool in CS5 is perfect to remove this but as almost always in Ps there are a number of ways to tackle the same situation. These examples are quick and dirty from your low resolution crop to show the possibilities but the repair could be made undetectable from the large files or course. Shouldn't take more than a minute. The area is not really significant in your shot and your goal here would be to make the artefact disappear rather than reconstruct the affected area accurately. Firstly the ideal way to select the area that you want to adjust is to use the Quick Selection tool. I think it was there in (at least) CS4 as well. The default settings very often are perfect and it is easy to add or subtract from your selection. with Content Aware Fill Using the Patch tool to drag your selection into an unaffected area. In this case I then did a little -yellow tweak also to better match the area (still not quite sufficient in this example). 01af Posted August 19, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 19, 2010 How about the Copy Stamp or the Patch tool in Color blend mode? The idea is to copy the colour information from a nearby area only, not the luminosity.
GMB Posted August 19, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted August 19, 2010 Many thanks Chuck, Geoff, and 01af. Unfortunately, I don't have CS5 (so far did not see a need to upgrade from CS4). I will try the other solutions posted.
