3 New Leica X1 Cases

I just got a new replacement case (the brown leather one from Leica)

The rivet attaching the shoulder strap got a little more loose/free play on one side. I showed it to my Leica dealer if it was anything to worry about. He said 'this is not up to Leica standards, I'll send it back'. I received a new case from Leica within a week.

Excellent precautionary service! :)

hello, i have just secured a part exchange deal for my x1 (with an m8). they don't want my luigi case as part of the deal so it's up for grabs. i received it on the 22nd september so it is as new (a few minor handling marks due to the soft nature of the leather). it cost me $422 including postage and extras (aged brown colour/grip/tripod screw). offered here for $380 ($42 off), including postage anywhere. payment by paypal only. i bought this on ebay direct from luigi...my user name is the-practical-cat, email address salimah1972@yahoo.co.uk. it is a very beautiful case. regards.

You should be advertising this in the 'Buy & Sell' section!

Just thought I'd put it out there, that I just bought a nylon Nite Eyz Backbone Case 20 for the X1 after looking around for a while. I wanted a nylon case which was durable to throw in my shoulder bag, backpack, etc, or even hook to my belt or shoulder strap for easy access. It's turned out great. It's not expensive - $25. It fits with my handgrip attached also. Here's a link for some info.

Who bought the Luigi aged leather case with grip, how do you like it, and how would the thumbs up fit on it? A mini review would be nice. Thanks.

Hi, I bought the exact same case from Luigi and I must say it is perfect. The case fits very well and all buttons and the LCD are free and not obstructed by the case. Also, the camera really feels protected (I carry it over my shoulder with the lens cap on. The strap which is included is really nice and adjustable in length. Oh, and it looks just gorgeous on the little Leica !!

I don't have a Thumbs up and in my opinion this would be overkill for the X1.

Last but not least : It was really great to deal with Luigi. I received the case just 2 days after I made the payment and everything was in great order.

i'm lucky enough to own a very cute aged brown leather luigi case ith built in grip for my x1. it has a back flap which i totally get and find indispensable. an s/s screw might be overkill. btw, if you want to fit a thumbs up, you need to cut out a small section in the back of your luigi case with a scalpel blade. it's easy, don't panic because it's already marked for cutout. just make sure that you use a fresh blade and that you cut slowly & carefully with something soft & pliable underneath..

As a small update to this thread - I got the A&A 1/2 case (the no-Leica grip version, there is a separate one for cameras with the Leica grip fitted) and it is a very good fit with easy access to all the controls. There is a small "grip" bump on the front. The X-1 Thumbs-up is not obstructed. Highly recommended!

I am looking for this A&A half case for the X1 with grip fitted. Does anybody know where to buy it (preferably Europe) or has a parts number ?

Thx Michiel

Ordered yesterday at Red Dot Cameras the A&A half case in black for X1 with Leica grip fitted and received the parcel today in here in the Netherlands.

Sure it is a matter of taste but I do love the make and quality of this A&A case. IMHO the black is very neutral and less over the top then Luigi's. Would love to have the same case for my M8 but it seems not available as half case with grip fitted... :)

Now I only need a X1 ordered yesterday but in back order at the importer's.

"msbel, if you could possibly reach deep within your memory banks for the name of that neoprene rangefinder case, I'd love to see what it is."

Not my original post but have a feeling that Optech do or did something like this.
