Acquired an interesting Leica history book today

On a book-shopping trip today I discovered this interesting title in a secondhand bookshop in Stamford, Lincs.; ' The Source of Today's Thirty-Five Millimeter Photography" by Emil G. Keller, first published in 1989. Judging by used copy prices quoted on Amazon and Alibris the book appears to be quite a collectible.

The 72 page soft cover book traces and documents the history of Leitz and the Leica camera and has a number of interesting photographs showing the Leica I being manufactured c.1925. I cannot copy the photos but below are some pictures of the cover and title page.

I had not seen or heard about this book until today.

Does anyone else have a copy?

I do remember seeing this book for sale in San Antonio, Texas USA about 4-5 years ago. I'm afraid I don't remember the price. But now you know that at least two copies still exist!

Welcome to the Leica camera Forum ... and I've seen at least 2 other copies advertised ... so at least 4 exist :-)

I have signed copies of both books. The first was all about Leitz, Wetzlar. The second book was all about E. Leitz, New York. Both are invaluable sources written by a company insider.

Thanks .... I'll be looking for the Leitz New York book

Cheers

This is a wonderful book full of interesting facts. For example, in the 1923 hyper-inflation crisis, Leitz paid their workers with tokens which could be exchanged for food imported from Denmark, paid for with the Company's foreign exchange.
