jlancasterd Posted August 11, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted August 11, 2010 John, Incredible IQ and sharpness for the ISO setting and handheld with the slow shutter speed. Great colors, composition and sharpness. Paul Hi Paul I must say that I'm very impressed with the improvement in IQ at high ISO that seems to have resulted from the introduction of firmware 1.138. With the earlier firmware I kept the camera set on ISO 160 for most of my shots and only went up as far as 640 when absolutely necessary. Now I'm keeping the camera set on auto ISO so as to maximise depth of field - important for much of the work I do around the railway. However, I still need my D700 with the 16-35 zoom at ISO 6400 for some situations...
elansprint72 Posted August 11, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 11, 2010 Nice one John! That is a proper piece of work; love the spacers under the casting!
wda Posted August 14, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 14, 2010 Fascinating insight into work in progress. No room or opportunity to use a tripod, John. I know it can be difficult, but for industrial shots it is worth the effort.
