Support for Lightroom 2

Hi!

I got my LR2 license with my camera, but as a freshman in digital photography I have grave difficulties in mastering it. I have bought books and videos, but it seems I have done something extremely stupid right at the beginning, so now I´m completely lost. So I called Adobe Customer Support for help. There I was told that this was a special license and all support here should be carried out by Leica!

Where do I go to get help? Is there a phone number I can use?

:(

Well, it seems I can´t export my photos out of Lightroom as .jpg´s.

I started up importing from the card and storing on my harddisk, but as they are big files i later moved them to an external harddisk. After that my folders in Lightroom appeared with a ?mark. I got some help the first day from Adobe, they said I needed to reset something and promised to send me the procedure on mail, but I never got it. I don´t think this is a problem that can be solved via this Forum, I need someone to talk to while I have the program open. Do you have any suggestions?

You are being sold a line by Adobe. Leica can't help you with support for Adobe's product.

What is the problem?

How can I get confirmation that Adobe is "selling me a line". Armed with that I can get back to Adobe Support.

Amund, any new software is daunting at first sight. Do buy a good book; but do also look at the Adobe Lightroom site. Study the FAQs section which will cover most of your problems. If you want to ask a question, first register with the Forum and you will find a fund of help available globally.

Thanks everybody.

I do have both books and tutorials, but I seem to have done something extremely stupid right in the beginning. The books are skating a little easy over the preliminaries on how to set up folders and so on, but I shall try again and hopefully I haven't done any permanent damage to the program. We'll see.

But it riles me that Adobe helpdesk is lying to me and I would really like to have it confirmed. I have written to Leica and outlined the problem, so hopefully I shall get my confirmation from them.

Amund.

1/ UPGRADE to LR 3. The difference in RAW processing quality + functionality is really worth the money.

2/ If you want a really good step by step from beginner to expert I can strongly recommend the Luminous Landscape tutorials. Not expensive and I've seen a number of computer challenged friends really take off after working through the tutorials. You can find these at:

Amund,

see if you can attend a Lightroom training session at your local Leica Akademie. You'll have a good understanding of what the programme can do and how to use it after a half or full day course.

Chris' advice is good, but LR2 works very well indeed and produces splendid results.

You'll have to locate your files under both versions of the programme.

The Forum has yet again proved invaluable to me and I thank you all for good and kind advice.

It seems, by the way, that support for Adobe for Leica owners is indeed done by Leica. I got a mail from a gentleman called Oliver Vogler at Leica and he states that he´s the one that gives support on Adobe products.

That means that the license we got with the camera is a little inferior to the one bought separately. I don´t doubt that mr Vogler is a very good man on Lightroom, but he won´t be able to give me support in my own language. On the other hand, the line to support was so bad I could hardly hear what the man said, so I think I shall follow Chris´advice and try to work it out on my own.
