jafleming3 Posted August 10, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Only two, from my end: 1. Ability to take DNG (Raw) photos only. 2. Faster focusing. Focusing is not a big issue for me as I don't really do much street photography; but the first suggestion would be a most welcomed improvement, indeed. Anything on your wishlist? leicaddict Posted August 10, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2010 I agree with your first point. The JPG files are useless to me and just take unnecessary room on the memory cards. Focusing is not slower than any other digital compact camera. But a longer battery life could be nice as well, eventhough it is, again, not shorter than any other digital compact. Well, a dedicated waterproof case would be great! Let's dream.
ChiILX1 Posted August 10, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2010 No crazy aperture mannerisms if I have the camera just on. Aperture should stay on what I have it on or adjusts only when I press the shutter half-way if it's on automatic.

I own both and X1 and a Vlux 20 and the vLux 20 is at least 2-3 times faster. However the quality as we all know from the X1 especially from the (Higher ISO's) put allot of DSLR's to shame. This has been my experience too date. EMMA
mjh Posted August 10, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 10, 2010 Ability to take DNG (Raw) photos only. Even if you couldn’t zoom into the image in play mode (unless a full-resolution JPEG was embedded into the DNG, but then a JPEG in a separate file would be more versatile)? I beg to differ that the X1 focusing is slower than (most) other compact digi cams, that have been out since the X1's debut. To put it more precisely: It is no slower than other cameras using a contrast-based autofocus with a similarly sized sensor. Yes, DSLRs are faster as long as they can rely on phase-detection AF (i.e. outside live-view mode) and compact digicams with smaller sensors are faster as well. Unfortunately that doesn’t help at all in getting a camera like the X1 to focus any faster.
h00ligan Posted August 10, 2010 Share #6 Posted August 10, 2010 afaik (and I may be wrong) the af in the X1 is slower than the nex, the ricoh with 50mm, and the mft offerings (including olympus at this point) - all of which use contrast based detection I believe (but yes mft is smaller, but it's not pocket cam small)

DNG only What sort of play would you think Leica could enable to have those separate locks? I'm just thinking since there is no 1/4 shutter AE, 1/2 shutter AF...
