LeicaBraz Posted August 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all. Have couple of questions: 1) Some photos taken with my M6 and scanned in a local lab show the following: "Make: Noritsu Koki Model: QSS-30 Software: QSS-30 K001" Is this related to the process at the lab? 2) How do i get the hexadecimal number? It is not showing in the metadata. I'm using Lightroom 3 (have also Capture One, unused sofar). Thanks in advance
Advertisement Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Hi LeicaBraz, Take a look here EXIF questions. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ho_co Posted August 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2010 An EXIF file header is generated by the digital creator of the file it is associated with. Film isn't digital, so it doesn't generate EXIF data. As you guessed, the data you're reading were created by the lab's equipment. When you ask about "the hexadecimal number," I assume you're referring to the "Unique Image ID" that the digital Ms post to the files they create. The M6 is purely mechanical and has no way to count its shutter activations, let alone any means of attaching that information to the image. The M8 and M9, when used with coded lenses, post data about the lens used, the date and time, the shutter speed etc--but all a film Leica can do is give you a picture. And last forever. sandymc Posted August 8, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 8, 2010 Noritsu Koki are manufacturers of mini-lab equipment. That was what the lab used to scan the images. Sandy
LeicaBraz Posted August 8, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted August 8, 2010 Thanks all. Apologize for the confusion: question 1 was for the M6 but question 2 refers to the M8; the EXIF data doesn't show the unique image ID either. So, what should I do? As said, using LR3. Johnny_Johnson Posted August 8, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 8, 2010 question 2 refers to the M8; the EXIF data doesn't show the unique image ID either. So, what should I do? As said, using LR3.Rgds It's there but in the special "Maker Notes". You just have to have software that can read them. Adobe Bridge can read them. If you don't have that available try searching for "EXIF Viewer" in Google. It's a free reader that, if I remember correctly, also shows most of the maker notes. Bert N Posted August 9, 2010 Share #6 Posted August 9, 2010 Thanks all. As said, using LR3.Rgds The M8's Image Unique ID exif tag number is A420. You can download a reader or simply use this online exif reader to view the tag contents: Jeffrey's Exif viewer
