You aren't limited to 1/30th as the slowest.

 

Go to your menu, go to "auto ISO settings," click "slowest speed," and you can choose 1/15 or 1/8 second as your slowest speed. If you want slower use the dial.

 

If you haven't noticed that menu you also haven't noticed that by default the camera limits auto ISO to 1600- which you can increase to 3200. That will also help your automated low light shots.

 

Also you can set "exposure bracketing" to help nail the right exposure. That takes 3 high speed shots every time you hit the shutter at incremental exposure compensation stages that you can set- ie. +/- 1 will take one shot at -1, 1 shot at 0, and one shot at +1.

 

Of course, any other adjustments you make such as aperture or ISO, the camera will adjust the automated functions to give you the best shot based on your manual settings.

What all of us wants is to increase the shutter for Auto ISO, not decrease.

 

Our hands are all shaky. haha.

yeah, drop the big sensor and go for a d-lux4 which in P mode had a configurable minim shutter speed up to 1/250. neat !
