pvak Posted August 23, 2010 Share #41 Posted August 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the Thumbs Up and handgrip both attached to my X1, they work really well together and I high recommend. I also have both the ThumbsUp and handgrip on my X1. I must say that once attached you will never want to hold the camera without them on. They form a terrific compliment and makes holding the camera an incredible pleasure. Highly recommend it as an ESSENTIAL accessory! Peter
Advertisement Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Hi pvak, Take a look here X1 Thumbs Up Now Available. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
anupmc Posted August 23, 2010 Share #42 Posted August 23, 2010 Absolutely! The combination of the X1 hand-grip + the Thumbs-Up makes the camera grip fantastic. All I can say is "Don't knock it till you've tried it!" And if you're not hung-up about keeping your Leica leather case in pristine condition, this combination actually fits - after removal of one of the inner pads... Welcome, dear visitor! RichardM8 Posted August 24, 2010 Share #43 Posted August 24, 2010 Thx for sharing these pics anupmc. I think 'fit' is a relative term here...
BB W Posted August 25, 2010 Share #44 Posted August 25, 2010 anupmc, thanks for those pictures and for your description of how you made yours fit. Unfortunately that nice leather case just won't work no matter what with the viewfinder, though I'd love it too. I'm still thinking about the thumbsup. It seems pretty handy. I realize the only way I'll ever know is to meet someone in real life who has one or order one and try it out.
ChiILX1 Posted August 25, 2010 Author Share #45 Posted August 25, 2010 If anyone notices brassing- let me know via PM I'll be interested to know. Thanks.
wda Posted August 25, 2010 Share #46 Posted August 25, 2010 The way a camera handles is a very personal experience. From the start I knew I needed the hand-grip, the only accessory option available in March. As an early adopter I also received a free leather erc which is well-made. I have settled using the half-case and the hand-grip thus giving me something approaching the right thumb rest of a small ThumbsUp attachment. It works; is comfortable and I am happy. Please don't tempt me to buy any more accessories!
anupmc Posted August 26, 2010 Share #47 Posted August 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think 'fit' is a relative term here... Hahaha.... Indeed, "fit" is a bit of a stretch (pun intended) ... It's convenient though, and small and easy to carry around everywhere without looking like a photo-jounalist
A POV Posted August 29, 2010 Share #48 Posted August 29, 2010 I'm using the Thumbs-up with the X1 grip and the pair is just fantastic! I got my order from Match Technical really fast. Now I want the M hand-grip in addition to the Thumbs-up for my M9.
zipper Posted August 29, 2010 Share #49 Posted August 29, 2010 I have been the short Thumbs Up on my M8, and I'm very happy with. I like the way the black paint is beginning to 'brass' at the edges - quality material always improve in appearance with age. One tiny gripe, I wish it didn't have the printed on name tag - engraving is the only fitting process (given the high price) or not at all.
Scola77 Posted August 30, 2010 Share #50 Posted August 30, 2010 Just got my thumbs up and could not be happier. I love the smooth design of the X1, but from an ergonomic standpoint it just was awkward for me to hold. This accessory gives a more sturdy and confident feel when holding the camera. Highly recommend!
h00ligan Posted December 1, 2010 Share #51 Posted December 1, 2010 Well, I ordered the thumbs up and viewfinder this morning as a 'last ditch effort' and hoping that when my x1 returns it is working well and handles well. The grip was small for me and I returned it..and a cheap vf I bought was lackluster. Hopefully this and a new firmware + repaired camera = happy buyer
Guest Posted December 1, 2010 Share #52 Posted December 1, 2010 x1+grip+voigländer+thumbs up is a perfect combination for me.... everything is a question of personal taste,i like the "phototool"- look.more than the perfect pure designerlook . it´s great that this camera provides these opportunitys..... so everyone can build his individual x1. ChiILX1 Posted December 10, 2010 Author Share #58 Posted December 10, 2010 Good review and pics. Thanks. What kind of bag do you have that you like so much for your X1? I really enjoy having the carga 04 bag because it's small, can fit to/in other bags, looks great, doesn't look like a camera bag, and is made by hand by an artist. You can click it in my signature to see. I did customize the interior a bit so that the camera could only fit in one way with interior pads which a battery and goatshair brush fit in. Just got my thumbsup and put it on my X1, lovely feel with the grip as well, nice and secure, only thing is my Voigtlander isnt very snug in the thumbsup as it was in the camera, its possible to wiggle it out. anyone else have this issue ? is there a fix ? am i doing something wrong ? Thanks Just push it all the way forward in the thumbs up. Tim's pressure spring for it gets stronger the further forward you push it.
Firesuite Posted December 10, 2010 Share #59 Posted December 10, 2010 Just push it all the way forward in the thumbs up. Tim's pressure spring for it gets stronger the further forward you push it. Thanks, I tried that and it was still a little loose so I removed the spring clip and bent the sides up a teeny bit more, all fits perfectly now
