I got a problem with my MP today. When the film was finished and I shold wind it back the rewind knob turns very heavy. I succed to rewind the film anyway but when I should load a new film I cant tension it, the knob seams to be nearly stuck.

What can be the problem with it?

See what Chris said? Sometimes when you mess up things the winding mechanism can get hung up between the wind on and the R for some reason. Jinking the wind on might free it up so that the R pops up and you get a shutter release, then it should be problem free. I "think" the only time (or times) it has happened to me was when I overwound the last frame when the film ran out tight a hairs breadth before cocking fully:o.

Is the rewind knob connected in any way with the rewind lever? I don't think it is. The rewind lever operates a clutch to free the sprockets so that you can rewind the film. This problem occurs even when there is no film in the camera.

Correct. The rewind knob should rotate freely (though not loosely) when there is no film in the camera or, when there is a film in the camera, if the film is not engaged in the sprockets.

Apologies...I read this " I succed to rewind the film anyway but when I should load a new film I cant tension it, the knob seams to be nearly stuck" to mean you couldnt load and wind on the new film.

If you reach up into the film canister side you cant turn the twin forks with your fingertip if the knob is fully down? It should spin freely.

...have never had an MP rewind knob go stiff on me, but the knob did once go loose on one of my MPs. On the upside, the lovely repairs folks at Leicaville fixed it on the same day I took it in - all it needed was a little tightening.

I hesitate to provide a diagnosis, because the root cause could be anything from a loose screw to a broken part(!) to alien material in the mechanism. Incidentally, how long have you had this MP for and how many rolls of film (roughly) have successfully passed through it in that time?

Lastly, I'm not too sure if repair centres abound in Sweden, so it sounds like you may need to (gulp) "send the MP in". Good luck.

If I reach into the film canister and try to turn the twin forks its inpossible, it feels like they are stuck.

The camera is only three weeks old and I have shoot about 6 rolls of film. The three last rolls did feel like it was havier to rewind them then the three first rolls.

The forks and the knob should turn reasonably freely, I thought that the MP has a one way friction clutch to stop the film springing if the knob was released, such would seem to be unnecessary with M2 and M3 I've used. Especially if it has failure modes.

With the knob fully down, you should be able to turn the forks and the disengaged knurled winder will sit still. You can still see the centre dots on the spindle turn.

With the knob up you should be able to turn the forks and winder smoothly but very firmly, because it is clutched.

Sounds like you are back to the retailer like the smart money said.
