billy10388 Posted August 4, 2010 Share #21 Posted August 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) @skide No vignetting with the Nikon adapter. You still could use it up to 60mm length without vignetting but the nikon is only around 45mm. Oly VF: After a couple of tests everything was fine. No Probs anymore Maybe this interesting for you too http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/forum-zur-leica-x1/120680-x1-schnappies-mit-sucher.html#post1296911 Such a very amazing link! Guest MartinMann Posted August 4, 2010 Share #22 Posted August 4, 2010 Thanks for Advice! I just hot glued an adapter ring 52-58 to the Nikon adapter and it works perfect!
JeTexas Posted August 4, 2010 Share #23 Posted August 4, 2010 My adapter hasn't arrived yet, but I was attempting the repair of an old Nikon lens last night. When I started horsing around a bit with the lenses. And I realized that the outer lens from my 18-70mm Nikon wasn't too bad when attached to the X1 if you want a Macro Zoom. It's not an adapter I would carry around with me on the street, but it's very helpful for product shots and to show detail in DIY/instruction manual photos. The question is, will I keep it adapted for the X1 or put the lens back together as a backup for my Nikon? Welcome, dear visitor! Leicabatoutahell Posted August 8, 2010 Share #24 Posted August 8, 2010 Agree. The X1 lens is designed without a hood. It's very flare resistant. A hood usually increases contrast. This might be fine on a soft mediocre lens but on a good lens like the X1 has I can easily have an adverse effect. Sean Reid has done some interesting testing & observations on this too. When I used various L lenses on my Canon I frequently noticed unwanted effects from a hood. On the other hand, the small hoods from Zeiss primes for Canon work good. But they seem to be part of the design as they come with the lens. Hahaha! Man, what are you guys in Amsterdam smoking??
