john cleland Posted July 22, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all I went down to London yesterday and got the chance to visit the Leica store on Bruton Place, Mayfair. Firstly may I say how friendly the service was - the guys were brilliant! I explained that I had an M9 on order at Harrisons, Sheffield so they new straight away that I wasn't going to buy one there and then. However they were more than happy to let me try out both a 50mm Summilux and Summicron on the M9 to compare. I also had a look at the Noctilux (really just out of interest as it is way out of my price range). I am really pleased I went as they had both the black and two-tone colours in the M9 and I was able to compare them side by side. Great news for me as I had ordered the two-tone from Harrisons but decided I liked the black better when I saw them both together. The even better news was that I rang Harrisons today and asked if I could change my order and how far back this would put me on the list? Again, they were brilliant and I was told it was no problem to change my mind and I could have the black version immediately! So after four months waiting I am at last picking up my M9 this Saturday. I have never used a Leica before but purchased the 35mm Summicron lens second hand about four months ago on real leap of faith and put my name on the list for the M9 Will let you know how it goes. I was fortunate enough to get mine in Sept last year and it's been with me virtually everyday since then. Of all my cameras it's by far my favorite.
