phancj Posted August 25, 2010 Share #21 Posted August 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I received my X1 yesterday and I'm very dissapointed with this heat issue. After 5 min, the camera becomes hot in the grip area, as other members has reported. I've asked Leica, and I'm waiting for their response. I don't think this is normal, I haven't measured it, but it's significantly warmer than my hand, to the point that it's unconfortable. I can't imagine what would happen with 3 hours of use... Use it till it gets fried, you are entitled to a new set if indeed it explodes, plus possibly an M9:rolleyes:

jrv Posted August 25, 2010 Share #22 Posted August 25, 2010 The heat starts from battery side and spreads to whole body in 20mins. When this happens it's worth turning off the camera and ejecting the battery. If the battery is the source of the heat take it outside to cool off. If it goes into thermal runaway you do not want it to be near anything that can burn or where you have to breath the fumes. It's almost never going to be the battery but rather some other electronics in the camera. But these are Li-ion batteries and deserve respect.
