positivibes Posted July 20, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello I need some advice about film developing in new york. i will stay there for about 2 month starting august and i would like to know if i can work straight on film there. i would like to leave my M8 at home and bring only my M6 and Olympus Snapshot Film-Cam. Where can i get quick development (2-3 days) incl. scans for a good price? high res scans prefered, because i have to work with the pictures right away and won't have a filmscanner there. thanks for your help. berni
Advertisement Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Hi positivibes, Take a look here Film Developing in New York. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
StS Posted July 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted July 20, 2010 It depends a bit, what you are looking for. If a C41 development and a base16 scan from a Fuji minilab is sufficient, I can recommend this place: Walgreens 350 5th Avenue New York, NY 10118 Stefan
roguewave Posted July 20, 2010 Share #3 Posted July 20, 2010 When I lived in Greenwich Village here's the lab I used. Very good people. They do it all. Moderate prices for NYC. My Harlem friends love to process my film with theirs, so I don't use a lab any longer. They shoot every day & I get my stuff in a matter of hours now instead of having to wait to get enough to do it myself or bring it to a lab. noah_addis Posted July 21, 2010 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2010 When I was in NYC the only lab I trusted for my C-41 was PixPoint: Pix Point Inc. :: A Film Processing Lab, 164W 25th st. They run the best C-41 line in the city and they're very nice guys too. They have no price list and have some big-name clients, but don't let that scare you off, they matched the reasonable prices I was paying at my old lab. I don't know if they do scans and I'm pretty sure they don't do whole-roll scans. If you just need to scan some select frames Beth Schiffer (BETHSCHIFFER PRO>PHOTO LABS) rents time on Imacon or Creo IQsmart scanners. If you need whole-roll scans I'm not sure what to say other than that I've never had good scans done that way (though I know some labs do a good job at it). positivibes Posted July 22, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted July 22, 2010 thanks for your help. i guess what i'm looking for is minilab work but in the best possible qualitiy. in here (zurich) i always get my C-41 Kodaks developed + small prints + lowres scans. for this i pay about 26$/film. and it's done by a professional lab, not a mini lab at the supermarket. Ben, your recommendation seems quite good, they also have a minilab. US COLOR LAB & DIGITAL PRINTING do you have any experience with the quality of their minilab service? best regards, berni
