I want to know this... is it Leica going cheap, or are all LCD camera screens prone to this happening (not a crack, a faint scratch) regardless of manufacturer, and regardless of

This reminds me on a problem in the Iphone4 Forum, somebody insulted Apple cause the dirt particles under his Iphone Siliconcase scratched the metal frame of the phone.

LCD screens have very soft surfaces, you get swirl marks even from wiping it off with a towel, thats nothing new and i put a screen protector on every device i have. I wouldnt even think of putting a 2000$ camera in a bag together with another camera without a leather case. Only if i would be Bill Gates, then i would buy just a new one when its scratched.

Try pealing up the corner of your screen protector with an exacto knife, then with a tooth pick put just a tiny dab of petroleum jelly into the scratch crevice (to fill the air void) then let the screen protector flip back

Yes, what's the verdict on that ACMAXX, Edward?

Nippa, do you remain pleased with yours? I really need to do something and am on the verge of buying one of these. It just makes me nervous regarding how difficult they appear to be to remove - if you ever needed to replace it, etc.

Hi BB W

I'm actually very pleased with the AC Maxx Protector and would certainly buy another one.

What scared me was getting a screen protector , putting it on and then finding bubbles and not being able to adjust it without leaving a mess.

With the AC Maxx there is no issue with Bubbles.

I put it on and then decided it wasn't quite straight enough. A little heating with a hairdyer and I was able to reposition it perfectly.

Removal will be just as easy.

When I bought the X1, the camera shop was nice enough to put a screen protector on for me for free. I scratched that one badly, so I also have a spare screen protector for my htc hd2 and I trimmed the film to fit the X1 screen. Brand was "Capdase" and the film looks thick and clear.

Only way actually is to put a protector on before even using any LCDs, if you are concerned with scratches.

You could try POLYWATCH which is specially formulated for removing scratches from acrylic watch glasses ... but it does require a lot of rubbing. It is not so much an abrasive ... it has more of a mild chemical action.

I do not know if this will work on an X1 screen so try at your own risk. I have never tried it on a camera screen ... but it did work well on a scratched screen protector.

If you Google the product several sellers should come up. And here's a video demo

DISPLEX is a similar product but do not expect miracles with either product if the scratches are deep.

The ACMAXXX arrived, the fit is much better than the ggs, the screen is less flexible, and actually I don't mind the chrome like I thought I would. Overall it seems pretty good and makes me feel a bit more secure (though I still baby the x1).

This one I think I can recommend, the GGS fit was small and it just stunk of cheap - at least the acmaxx (more expensive) feels like it's of decent quality. Viewing angle is fine. It's a touch wider than the screen so it adds a feeling of depth a bit (as well as being a good thickness) it makes you feel a bit like looking through a small window - certainly not a bad experience at all.

May want to look at this too:

It is made by the Brand "Made" and the wrap is named "Always-On" It is neat and is attached to the tripod screwmount.

I find this so useful, easy to unwrap quickly and wraps up to protect most vulnerable parts of the camera.

Sorry for the bad photo from my mobile, high iso performance of htc and most mobile cams suck haha;)
