Timmyjoe Posted July 17, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Been using my Leica iiif Red Dial quite a bit lately and keep running into this problem. Everything about the camera works great except that on certain rolls of film, they won't advance past the first frame. Usually it's a problem with some old Agfapan 100 stock I have, not seen the problem as much with Tri-X or Delta 100. I cut the film leader down like it's supposed to be, load the roll, it advances to the first frame, then it doesn't advance past that. The film doesn't pull away from the take up spool, the take up spool just stops turning under the winding knob. Like it's slipping or the "clutch" that goes from the winding knob to the shaft that the take up spool slides over is slipping. Is this something I can fix by swabbing some rubbing alcohol on the inside of the take up spool and on the take up shaft to remove any dirt or oil that may have built up over the decades this camera has been in use? Or is this a CLA issue? Would definitely send the camera to DAG, but I hate to give it up for a number of weeks. Any and all info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
