nyckylim Posted July 9, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Just wondering, how do you guys organize your photos ? Do you use keywords ? Projects by date ? Projects by places ? P.S: Best if examples from Aperture 3. Thanks ! Cheers Nycky
Advertisement Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Hi nyckylim, Take a look here Organizing Photos. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted July 9, 2010 Share #2 Posted July 9, 2010 Keywords together with embedded metadata provide all you need for quick searches. I store all pictures in one YEAR folder but have a few Smart Collections to access current or recurring work. No need for multi-folders in my view. But I do back up all data as soon as soon files are added or modified.
tdtaylor Posted July 9, 2010 Share #3 Posted July 9, 2010 YEAR folders, then folders with DATE/EVENT NAME. Take about 30,00-50,000 per year and this suffices, mostly because I do quite a few sports events with large numbers of photos, so the actual number of date/event name folders is less than two screens. I know several that have a folder level with LOCATION, then DATE. Really depends how you think about your photos. Do you think first about location, or do you think about when it took place? Never gotten into collections, but I am pretty anal about keywording and ranking when I intake and process the photos in Lightroom. I do color code my best shots, so I can always pull these up by year or by the entire catalog.
