Hi.

 

Just collected my new M7 yesterday and it's back to the store today.

The LED in viewfinder display cant be read properly..it's like double vision. The frame selector lever was also not showing the the 28mm and 90mm frameline when pushed inwards.

 

Am I unlucky or what? The serial number starts with 29.

mine starts 27, none of above problems, or others often associated to M7 (DX reader issues for example).

These seemed to be minor problems which most likely could have

been dealt with by the LEICA- customer service under guarantee.

 

If the price of your camera was right, it might have been better

to have kept it ...

The problem with the frame selector is due to the little or none use. It simply needs new lubrication. Regarding the double vision it sounds like the mask is displaced. Both issues are minor and could be settled by a little CLA. Done at Solms you most likely would get the latest DX reader for free if not yet installed.

I have an M7 on loan from my dealer at the moment, and it has exactly the problem you describe with the double vision LED display in the VF. I get round it by looking kinda sideways at it - almost a squint - and you can then read it. Try it - werid but it works. Of course the camera will have to go back to be tweaked but I'd put a few rolls through it first to make sure everything else is perfect (focus etc) and then if not it can all be done at the same time.

Are you guys sure, your M7 LED displays are off?

 

When I had my second hand M7 for the first days, I found the LED weird too - the camera was new to me, I played a lot and tried, to get used to the new features up from the M6.

 

I then found, that when I focussed my eyes not on the LEDs, but where the focus belongs to - the image in the viewfinder, the LED view becomes crystal clear and sharp!

 

I suppose, the LED is tweaked, to be clearly readable, when focus of sight is at a certain point in front of it (2 meter on wards maybe ?).

Seems like the LED issue is not a minor problem after all. Was told by the dealer it has to go back to Germany as they can't fixed it locally. I will be waiting for a new piece instead.

Not sure for how long though. 8(
