Adox CMS 20 – Opinions?

Has anyone tried this stuff? Adox claims 800 l/mm, (yep, 800) which equates to about 500 megapixels, whatever they are.

I'm happy shooting at 20 ASA for landscape work, but editorial stuff needs to be a bit faster.

If you have tried it, which developer did you use, and what do you think of it?

Yes, I have a regular stock. It can very well be used from sun rise to sun set and gives you the chance to use your fast lenses also wide open without the need to use a nd-filter.

I always use the adotech developer which I get supplied from - Fotoimpex Berlin | alles fr die analoge Fotografie - in a package with 5 films.

I found that it easily scans. Real film lovers might miss the grain.

Regards

Steve

Love it. It will really test your scanner, but this is the stuff Leitz's lenses are made for. I got my two (yes just two!) rolls from FotoImpex (see above) whilst in Berlin. Shot two rolls, shame I didn't shoot more. I got them to develop it at Fotoimpex along with a contact. Brilliant stuff.

I love the CMS20, too! However, I feel it attracts more dust and dirt than other films I've used so far. I also have occasional problems during scanning with the Coolscan 5000: the scanner seems to get confused right during the initial phase where it searches for the beginning of the frame and applies an offset. It needs a hard reset after that :-(

In the near future I'm going try Spur DSX 64 and see how this will perform and scan.

I love the tonality of adox cms 20. The range of creams and greys and blacks just rocks. I have developed with the adotech developer and with rodinal, but preferring the adotech developer. I have a few images scanned with this film, but it shows off best to my eyes when wet printed. A superb film.
