If I am entitled to do so than why do YOU even start and anyone can disagree with me anytime they want but here is your comment and that is not a disagreement. It is a barking order so get your definitions straight.

Well, I disagreed with your comment about David shilling for his business. My comment started with the words "I think..." that is an expression of my opinion. I am not harassing you, I am disagreeing with you. I have proabably commented on a few dozen of the thousands of posts you've made here. If I were harassing you I'd expect that to be higher.

Guy,

You keep telling us that you said this or that "a million", or "a hundred times"; the problem is you put the helm over every time there is a wind shift. One minute this is the best ever and we should all rush to follow you, next minute you are selling it because some other thing is the best ever....... and so on.

As for what you just posted, quoted above, I frankly do not understand it, I don't know what giving out raws means and are you calling me a sewer drain? That would be awfully rude, were it the case.

Simple case don't follow me around on what I buy because it is business related i will say it awesome and it always will be awesome but needs change but that does not mean my opinion does. I still like the gear it is just not working for my needs. I love the M9 and wish it would be better suited for me. So if your confused by that than you misunderstood. Also I meant you trying to drag me down a sewer drain . Anyway no bad feeling meant but I don't like people going after me which clearly was your intention. I never change my mind if I like something I like it just may not work for clients which drive all of this for me.

David I never get through 3 batteries a day and I shoot a lot. So what's your point, what about the weight and bulk of the glass and accessories and such. Why do you answer only half the equation. Or is it the only half you chose to ignore.

David your the dealer so tell us what the real weight is when you put body , 35, 70 180 and 120 on a scale with two batteries and how big a space it takes. I think that is what your customers really want to know and how does that all compare to other systems like a D3X, Hassy , Phase and such.

This is useful data not what somebody traded in. That is useless data for customers and not going to make buy decisions on what people trade. There are thousands of trades a day to all kinds of systems it is meaningless. Just look at the B&S forums, mine is constantly on fire with sales same here. Tells us nothing.

I have work to get too so I don't really care but maybe some prospective buyers would and that is why your on the forums right to make sales:rolleyes:

Guy,

I posted this reply here on the forum in February (actually, it was a reply to you when you asked the same question you are asking now):

My point was that while the 70mm is slightly larger and heavier than the Hassy lens (6 oz more), the overall package is lighter. The HC 210 is heavier than the S2 equivalent, the 180, as I stated in my previous post. The HC 120 Macro is 3.12 lbs, while the S 120 Macro is 2.83 lbs, even though the S lens is 1.5 stops faster (f/2.5 vs f/4). It is also physically smaller. The HC 35 is a few ounces heavier than the S 35, again with the S lens being 1 stop faster. So, from the four initial S lenses, only the 70mm is heavier (by only 6 oz) than the corresponding HC lenses, and the S lenses all offer faster f-stops (ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 f-stops).

Now, if the body is 2/3 lb lighter, and most of the lenses are lighter also (even while offering faster apertures) I think that would mean that a full S system is lighter by a fair amount vs. a full H system of the same equivalent focal lengths. In fact, the first four S lenses combined weigh 1/2 lb less than the HC 35, 80, 120, and 210. So, along with the weight savings in the body, you'll be carrying over a pound less in the bag.

Granted, I was addressing the weight of a full S system versus that of a full H system, and not a Phase system, but you get the point (again).

I think you'll find that I have been giving extensive and accurate information on the S2 ever since I attended the announcement event in Germany back in September 2008. I've dealt directly with the product managers and have had an ongoing dialog with key people at Leica. I am indeed a dealer, probably one of the largest and most respected for the S2, but I am also a journalist and a photographer. I personally shoot with the S2, and I have shot with other MFD systems, including P1 and H.

I thought the story of the P30 customer was a funny one. He certainly said it to me in jest and we all had a good laugh.

I have known you for years and we even traveled together in Germany for a week back in 2007, just shooting and having a good time (and a few too many beers.) :) Lately, though, I'm not sure why you have had an increasing tone of hostility towards the S2 and towards me in particular. If you are a happy Phase One owner, that is great. I continue to wish you all the best in your personal and professional endeavors.

I'm happy to provide my input on the S2 as well as my perspective as a long time member of the digital imaging industry. You have your opinions based on the type of work that you shoot. I have my own opinions based on my experience and what I shoot, as well as the feedback I have received from my customers. The concept of a forum is to share ideas freely for the benefit of the community. I don't come on the forums to sell things, just like I don't get paid to write my blog (often it costs me considerably in both time and money to travel and write and I pay my own way). If people feel that I have something to offer them as their dealer and they contact me, great, but I freely share my information with anyone regardless. I am passionate about photography and gear and genuinely enjoy what I do. :)

Guy, I don't understand why you would say something like this. I have never seen you post anything derogatory like this toward other dealers or vendors who offer information on the forums and also have goods to sell. David isn't posting on the forums to sell products any more than the other dealers and vendors. They all provide valuable information regarding the brands they represent and the forums are better off for it. They are all also photographers in their own right so their onions are pertinent.

Thank you Mark. I'd like to think that dealers, manufacturer reps, reviewers, and end users are all on a level playing field here on the forum.

David

David just forget it. Not worth our time. I have much more health care issues to deal with in my home that need my attention than play games with some in this industry. No need to bang your drum to me. I heard it all before. Enjoy your family and have a nice weekend.

David, I have never bought anything from you, and I expect (alas) I never will, but thank you for saying that in a far more eloquent way than I would ever be able to.

It's always been obvious from your signature that you are a Leica dealer, and from your posts that you are a Leica enthusiast. I feel sure that even if you weren't the former you'd still be the latter. Thank you again for your input.

David, your input into the forum is worth its weight in gold. (This is a message of great appreciation, btw. Pixels and bytes don't actually weigh that much..., but your knowledge and experience of using the S2 is very much appreciated. THAT's what I am trying to say :) )

What I really want to say is "Thank you".

Well put Andy. If anyone had seen the anguish I went through trying to decide on buying the S2 versus M9 and the way David handled it, no one would accuse him of trying to sell me. He is just not that type of person. In my experience, he values a good relationship with people over selling stuff.

I was on the same trip to Germany with Guy and David (first time I met both of them) and I consider both good friends. Guy has always been eager to help as well as David. So I will just consider the exchange is this thread as anomaly and quit worrying about it.

Guy, I truly hope your family's medical issues improve dramatically. I know from experience how that can take a toll of everyone in the family.

I think that it's fun to watch Guy fall in love time after time with a new camera, then discover the thing has faults :)
