Was halten Ihr davon? rain Posted June 28, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted June 28, 2010 sorry, english version: i would like to by a D-Lux 4, in comparison to the lumix Lx-3 I would also pay a certain price difference, due to the following reasons: 1. I want to support an german/european company 2. 3 versus 2 years garanty 2. design but these reasons stop me to buy the leica cam: 1. Panasonic: 362 € in Österreich http://geizhals.at/?fs=lumix+lx+3&in Leica: 699€ in Österreich (http://geizhals.at/?fs=leica+D-Lux+4&in) the cam came on the market in 2008!!! This, Price difference is crazy, what do you think? i called leica, they said: we don't care what panasonic does. we sell this cam to this price! bill Posted June 28, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 28, 2010 Rain, welcome. I would add three other reasons for buying the Leica version: 1. The ability to add the Leica Handgrip, which transforms the handling 2. The better bundled software provided 3. The better after-sales service Point 3 is based on personal experience. I have an LC-1 which suffered the sensor problem. I had the devil of a job getting Panasonic UK to accept that they should replace the sensor free of charge, even giving them a printout of their own website where they listed the effected serial numbers (mine was in range) and said that they would replace for free! They did honour their commitments in the end but it took a week of argument backwards and forwards. Leica on the other hand have never - NEVER - let me down on servicing. Ultimately, however, you pay your money and you take your pick. I have had Panasonic versions of previous models; it was only with the D-Lux 4 that I saw a clear reason to pick the Leica version. rain Posted June 28, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted June 28, 2010 I am absolutely agree! Dear regards, R.
Das ist der Grund, warum ich den exorbitanten Preis gezahlt habe. bill Posted June 28, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 28, 2010 Marcoloco, you make a very good point (and forgive me for responding in English!) The resale value of Leica cameras - even the badge-engineered point-and-shoot variety - is always higher than the Panasonic equivalent. rain Posted June 28, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted June 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) good point! I agree, do you know when leica plans to put on the market the new version of d-lux 4 (maybe dlux 5) ? it is just hard to pay the same price 2 years after the cam came on the market. Or not? rain Posted June 28, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted June 28, 2010 aber freut mich dass mal jemand das preisliche genauso sieht! exorbitant triffts haargenau! engl. : i am glad to hear that somebody agrees that the price is exorbitant.
bill Posted June 28, 2010 Share #9 Posted June 28, 2010 I think the price is sustained by market demand. There is honestly very little to compare with the D-Lux 4/ LX-3 even after two years on the market. Certainly although there have been newer cameras, there is very little that could be thought to improve upon the original concept. Certainly, I do not feel that the D-Lux 4 is obsolete - it still produces images as well as the day I bought it, 18 months ago. When will we see the D-Lux 5...? I wish I knew!! rain Posted June 28, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted June 28, 2010 is the mirror finder from leica (which should be retangular) and the round one from the pic in the forum comparable and for both, leica and lumix, usable?
stratherb Posted June 28, 2010 Share #11 Posted June 28, 2010 D-Lux 4 vs. LX3 the same cam the same soft the same lens the same sensor but : double the price.... No, can´t be a good deal... remember the Minolta zoom clones as Leica optics for the R- Modells 70-210 Minolta: ca. 480 DM the same from "Leica" ( Minolta Technics and ! glas:) 2500 DM
rain Posted June 29, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted June 29, 2010 hallo, first of all, thank you for your opinions! however, I ordered the Lumix Lx 3, due to the fact that I am a student and so I have 285 euros more to spend for my summerholidays. dear regard, r. michelv Posted June 29, 2010 Share #13 Posted June 29, 2010 Well it took me a lot of googling and I have read a lot of reviews and test. The Leica is not the same as the Pana. Just take time to read and investigate if you are in doubt. The look, colours, software, guarante are among the differences. Having stated this I certainly agree that a Pana can give a lot of joy and fun as well. And if you don't have the money the choice is easy. I have a Pana FX01 right now and expecting my D Lux 4 later this week. Negociating with your dealer for a better price may help...
