norm_snyder Posted August 10, 2010 Share #21 Posted August 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Will--While I usually travel with two M8s, I often pack an M6, in my case with HP5+, and leave my 35 on it, a 28 and 75 on the M9s. Sometimes the M6 gets used with a 21 when I pack it, but I find that a simple kit, with two bodies and 2 lenses suits me best. I spend my time shooting, rather than thinking about what gear I want to use. When I want a gritty, grainy, 60's look, I still prefer the HP5 and a version IV 35mm Summicron. Tom--I have to agree about the combination of the [in my case] M2 with 35 + Nikon F plain prism with 105. Comfortable gear to use, and easy to use together [even if the Nikon does some things backward]--at least back when I used this combination.

don_panko Posted August 11, 2010 Share #22 Posted August 11, 2010 I am considering a micro 4/3s body and M lens adapter. It's inexpensive back up should the M8 fail. The only problem is that the sensor crop factor is worse but at least I can continue to use my Leica glass. One day a bargain M8 will come along but for now a micro 4/3 camera is a solution. in my opinion.
Dougg Posted August 15, 2010 Share #23 Posted August 15, 2010 ...Tom--I have to agree about the combination of the [in my case] M2 with 35 + Nikon F plain prism with 105. Pretty fast to get either into action, and a useful combination. Now I find it easier to carry one Pentax 67II than two of anything smaller. Carrying a bag with two G2's and a couple extra lenses just one afternoon cured me of that... my aching shoulder! The first time I took two M8 cameras on a trip, one just stayed in the bag with a body cap on... at the accommodations. For each outing I'd pick one lens for the active M8, and pocket a spare battery and card, but I didn't have my own transportation. Most recently I had the bag out of sight in the car and took either the one with the 25mm or the one with the 50mm depending on conditions. Surprised I used the 50 so much... I wouldn't take a film camera (either 35 or MF) along with a digital unless I had a specific purpose in mind for it. Too confusing.
