Elmarit-R 19 f:2.8 on Digilux 3

Does anyone know if it's possible to mount the Elmarit-R 19 f:2.8 (second version, with built in filters) on the Digilux 3 body?

Formally, the Leica R adapter for 4/3 mount supports only lenses down to 30 mm.

In case, can you suggest me which adapter do I need?

I tried my actual adapters (from Coma), but they doesn't fit in the 19 f:2.8 mount. I use them on many R lenses, (specifically: (Cron: 35 and 50), (Elmarit: 35, 100 APO macro, 135), (Telyt:180 APO 3.4, 250/4 280/2.8 APO), (Lux: 80)), and they're working fine with all of them.

My best regards.

Hi Paolo

I use a Novoflex R to 4/3 adapter on Digilux 3.

The Elmarit-R 1:2.8/19mm version 2 fits OK.

The distance scale is a bit off, this could be the lens (bought used) or possibly the adapter thickness made to the bottom tolerance limit deliberately to ensure infinity focus.

I get infinity focus a few mm to the left of the infinity mark.

A bit of recalibration with tripod, tape measure and a thin strip of masking tape on the lens marked off at the correct positions works - if you need an accurate scale.

Elmarit-R 1:2.8/28mm is OK too.

The Novoflex is not the cheapest (but less than the Leica or Panasonic adapters) but the fit and finish are excellent.

I also have an adapter from the Far East, not as nice a finish or fit but it works OK.

Not sure why your "Coma" adaptor doesn't fit.

Thanks Tony.

The problem with the Coma's adapters is only a mechanical one. The bayonet does not allow to mount the Elmarit 19 since one of the flanges (on the Elmarit)is too long and doesn't fit in the adapter mount. I suspect that the Coma adapter is a strict copy of the Leica one. Infact, the original adapter from Leica is specified to work with lenses starting from 30 mm up to 1600 mm.

I will buy the Novoflex immediately.

My best regards.

Paolo
