I always shoot raw, always, so the issue of 'monochrome mode' never arises. I do my black and white conversions in Silver Efex Pro for what it's worth.

 

I'm loving the M8 for black and white. I've "shot" more black and white in the last four months than I have in the last ten years - meaning, I'm now thinking in black and white when I take a shot, and it's a reflex to convert to black and white in post-processing. I'm learning more with every upload.
