kcnarf Posted June 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) If I buy photographic equipment online from A European-Union dealer, what kind of charges can I normally expect for fully insured 2-day shipping ? How long does it normally take for the merchandise to pass through U. S. Customs? Will I have to pay a Customs duty? If so, what % normally? Will the shipper normally charge me some kind of brokerage fee? How much Normally? Is there anything else I should know before I attempt such a purchase? Advertisement Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Hi kcnarf, Take a look here Buy Online from Europe With Shipping to U. S. ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted June 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2010 Why not drop an email to one of the European dealers who support the forum, such as RedDot or Robert White. I know for a fact that they ship to the US.

I am in the US and just received an M9 this week from Austria. It was shipped Monday and it was delivered Wednesday. The shipping cost was 100€, via DHL and there was no Duty (cameras are exempt) or brokerage fees with DHL (I have been charged a fee by UPS, in the past). Chiefey Posted June 5, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 5, 2010 I recently received an M5 from a dealer in Nurnburg. He paid the shipping charges, so I can't comment on those. It took approximately three weeks to arrive through regular ground shipment, and I didn't have to pay any import fees, or any other charges.
Shadow Blaster Posted June 5, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 5, 2010 I bought a lens from Robert White (UK) and the shipping charge wasn't too bad and I wasn't charged any duty (I'm in the US). BTW I give very high marks to Robert White and especially Ken, the salesman I worked with.
