Housman Posted June 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello All, I apologise if this topic has been dealt with before, but I would appreciate some advice about the rewind on my M6: it is so stiff near the end of the procedure that the rewind crank can jump out of my fingers and spin in the opposite direction. It happens to me too on my M6 TTL and I've been wondering if that is normal. I've just assumed all along that I just need to slow down when rewinding to avoid it jumping out and spinning back. I was also wondering if the film gets scratched if it happens, though so far I don't see any I'll effects on my negs. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
EJohnE Posted June 5, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 5, 2010 Had the same problem with an R3-MOT, but worse, as the winder could not drag the film through. No sign of a problem with no film. I put a tiny drop of sewing machine oil on the rewind shaft, pushed it up, down and around a few times, then wiped off any surplus. That was 4 years ago, and have had no subsequent problem with film going forward (with/without winder) or rewinding. It's worth a try. John. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Your replies are reassuring, and perhaps nothing is wrong, but it certainly is much stiffer than any other camera I have used, which is surprising considering how smooth everything else is on the M6! Xmas Posted June 5, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 5, 2010 Hi If it is stiffer towards then end this is because the gearing changes, the film diameter on the cassette spool is increasing, slow down... The film is moving faster progressively... If you try hard you can damaged the little flip out lever, but they will jump out of fingers if you don't slow and if you lose concentration.
