Peter Branch Posted June 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) On a recent trip I took about 1,000 images. I never delete image files in the M8. When I downloaded the DNG files to my PC I discovered that about 10 file numbers were missing. The missing numbers are always single and have no apparent patterns. I've not been able to identify any missing images - just the gaps in the number sequence. Of course the camers was switched On & Off many times and shut itself down quite often, as programed, after 5 min of not being used. Anyone else experienced this? 01af Posted June 7, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 7, 2010 Umm ... question is, does the camera just skip a few numbers occasionally or are actual frames missing?
Guest jarski Posted June 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 7, 2010 Anyone else experienced this? perhaps camera was turned off too fast, while it was still writing file to card ?
Peter Branch Posted June 8, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted June 8, 2010 Umm ... question is, does the camera just skip a few numbers occasionally or are actual frames missing? This is very difficult to establish in such circumstances. I can't find any "missing" images, i.e. pictures I remember taking but can't now find. I'm almost certain I've got all the images. There is one clue - I've looked at the pattern of the missing numbers and they always occur when I must have turned the camera off or, much more likely, it turned itself off. They never appear in a sequence of pictures taken over a short time interval. It's just inconvenient as I like to associate the DNG numbers with each converted file. Its just too easy not to notice and therefore get the numbering out of phase when using ACR 6.1 in CS5.
