SJP Posted May 31, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) As SWMBO has a problem with "too much" gear (don't blame her) we were discussing if there would be anything convenient to use M-lenses to make video. I guess the solution to all our R-lens problems will also be the apparently planned but not yet announced CMOS-EVIL like thing which possibly may also be suitable for M-mount? Should we wait for that? Or the EVIL-Msomething non-rangefinder? Using a fixed focus prime for video would make sense for some applications & I seem to recall seeing people use a Noctilux for video. If Leica is not planning anything video like then what other options would there be for using M-mount lenses: Olympus PEN I guess or something else? Advertisement Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Hi SJP, Take a look here video with M lenses . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted June 1, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 1, 2010 I'm using a Panasonic GH-1 for video now, with an M-mount adapter. But most of the micro-4/3rds cameras can do video and will take M lenses with the same adapter. The GH-1 can do higher res video (1080p vs. the 720p of most of the others) and has a nicer eye-level VF - but for most purposes the other cams probably do just as well. AlanG Posted June 1, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 1, 2010 There is a really interesting audio interview with the director of the TV series "House." He talks about the reasons why he used the 5DII to "film" the last episode and how they used them. Also what he thinks about he future of similar cameras for video: Interview: PhilipBloom - Interview with Greg Yaitanes about Season Finale of House - SoundCloud It was linked from this site: EXCLUSIVE: In depth interview with Greg Yaitanes, Executive Producer and Director of “House” Season Finale shot on Canon 5DmkII | Philip Bloom
