I was intrigued about these when i saw one on an m8, and finally found the site. I fired off an email asking when or if there would be one for the x1, and was informed the prototyping is done and they should be available in June. Attached was also this image. I have read about others who enjoy this and just thought I would pass along the info!

Thank you Tao, I am trying very hard to improve. Blake is happy with mum now! The thumbs up is the add-on bit that slides into the hotshoe and allows a resting place for thumb resting. Many people swear by them. They are expensive though, I will have to see the price. I'd love to try one, since I have big hands but the price is quite high for something I can't sample. They look exquisitely made though, and the man making them seems a genuinely good guy and very responsive...which is always a big plus for buying confidence.

After market thumbs up, separate handgrip to make a USD 2000 camera comfortably and safely holdable?

The Ricoh GXR has a very nice handgrip and little bump on the backside where the thumb naturally rests, same sensor as the X1 etc etc, as good an IQ, faster AF after firmware upgrade (Ricoh already came out with 2 good GXR FW upgrades, Leica 0), way superior user interface, faster lens, versatility, is built like a tank, for much less money.

Yet, I decided to sell the Ricoh and keep the X1, a USD 2500 compact with handgrip, round Voigtlander VF, case. Is there something wrong with me;););)

Leicashot simplistic design is about form not function and always have, otherwise they'd have focused more on slr's compared to rangefinders. This way people have options

Yes. The world is actually flat, and we Leica users are in serious danger of falling off the edges.

No, the GXR looks like butt...I don't blame you.

The current prototype shown in the photo seems a little too short no? I feel like the current positioning will cause your thumb to cover (and smear hand oil) on the top-right corner of the screen? Right?

I would like to see a longer version that perhaps extends to be about the manual focusing wheel? That would seem most intuitively comfortable. Yes?

I would assume there would need to be at least 2 types. One for people that use the screen and one for those that use the external VF

Awesome and much better alternative to the handgrip.
