Hocus pocus focus...

I have to lenses, one Jupiter 8 and one Leica Summicron type II.

With my M8 (now sold) the Summicron was sharp and the Jupiter 8 clarly was out of focus.

I could live with that.

Today Im using a M3. The Summicron on the M3 seem to be ok. Didnt try the Jupiter. The M3 got a TLC at reddotcamera, and came back as smooth as ever. But now - on infinity - the Summicron is "overfocusing" - I reach infinity in the viewfinder before the lens hits it infinity mark. Have actually focused on the moon - same result. The focus at shorter distances seem to be pretty good.

The focus with the Jupiter 8 is tested and is spot on (on one and a half meeter) Havent actually tested out longer distances.

Should I bother with the infinity problem with the Summicron - is it the M3 or the Summicron wich is faulty?

Hi

If the J8 and the cron were ok at infinity before you had the M3 serviced then it is the M3.

Noel

I didnt test the J8 before the service of the M3, and Im not sure if the Summicron was ok. The Summicron WAS ok with my M8 and M6. The J8 was not ok in the M8.

I guess is possible that the M3 is wrong at the infinity but ok in shorter distances?

I guess I shold go to the nearest Leica shop and try the focus on a brand new Summicron - THEN I will know.
