d2mini Posted May 21, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Where in the USA is the quickest place to get a lens adjusted? Just acquired a used leica lens that is focusing quite a bit in front of where it should. Need it adjusted ASAP. What are my options?

d2mini Posted May 25, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted May 25, 2010 I just wanted to update this thread with the latest... I called the guys at Essex Camera Services in New Jersey on Friday and spoke with a nice gentleman who listened to me explain that i needed a focus adjustment as soon as possible. He said he could do it and his price was very reasonable. I boxed up the lens, shipped it out FedEx Friday night for monday Morning delivery, and this morning (tuesday) I received a call that the adjustment had been made and he was ready to send it back to me. Great service so far! Now hopefully the lens returns in one piece and focuses properly on my M9. Fingers crossed!

d2mini Posted May 27, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted May 27, 2010 UPDATE: Got the lens back today! It's dead nuts on! The seller said it focused fine on his M6. I don't know how it could have been that far off on my M9. And i didn't send the M9 along with the lens for repair, just the lens by itself. Oh well. It's all good now. Again, kudos and many thanks to the team at Essex Camera Service in Carlstadt, NJ for their fine work and quick turnaround!
msk2193 Posted May 27, 2010 Share #13 Posted May 27, 2010 My 90mm Elmarit focused 100% dead-on with the film cameras, but was way off on the M9 as well. I guess the sensor is just extremely sensitive. Come to think of it, isn't film layered? - the sensor isn't! Great to hear you are set to go now. Enjoy

Enjoy I wonder what happens though to the film shooter who buys a current lens like the new 35 'lux??? If it focuses fine on the M9 does that mean it's off on the film cameras and all film shooters will have to send them in for adjustment?
