rhom Posted May 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All, I want to buy one of the M-mount Voigtlander 15mm/4.5 lenses. According to its specifications, a 52mm filter is required. My question to those of you who may own this lens is whether a "slim" IR cut filter is required to avoid vignetting? Or can one purchase a regular (overall filter mount thickness) IR cut filter. Looks like Marumi makes 52mm regular IR cut filters, but B&W makes a slim 52mm IR cut. Thanks for your help! Advertisement Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Hi rhom, Take a look here CV 15mm M Mount - Slim or Reg. IR Cut Filter?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
iek1968 Posted May 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 18, 2010 Hi Rick, get the Marumi, it's practically the same as the leica in optical result. See my other post here. No need for the slim one. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/125236-m8-test-heliar-15mm-without-uv.html take care iek1968
rhom Posted May 18, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted May 18, 2010 Hi iek1968, Thank you very much for your help! I somehow missed this earlier thread. I agree, a Marumi is fine. Off to order one! Best Regards, Rick
khiromu Posted May 18, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 18, 2010 You can use regular filter since M8 is cropped sensor. I use B+W regular 486 on mine. Hiromu
rhom Posted May 19, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted May 19, 2010 Hi Hiromu, This makes good sense. Thank you for the explanation. I think that I will order two 52mm IR Cut filters, one for the CV 15mm/4.5 and one for a CV 50mm/1.5 Nokton that I purchased as both take 52mm filters. Best To You!
