Does this mean that the supply is starting to catch up, and that I'll be able to finally afford one? Collectible Cameras
Advertisement Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hi norm_snyder, Take a look here Demo M9 for sale. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted May 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 15, 2010 The Leica reps for the Rocky Mountain States (AZ, NM, UT, CO, MT, ID, WY) are based near Phoenix, so it is possible this is one of their original sample bodies (I think they started out with two black, so perhaps have now received a steel gray sample and don't need a second black sample (is it black?)). Or it may just a coincidence of location. Could also be a return with just enough use that it can't be sold as "new" As has been noted in other posts, Leica's distribution is not always an "efficient market" - so some people may still be waiting on orders while there are bodies to spare elsewhere. I note B&H still lists the M9 as "temporarily unavailable" so I'd say demand is still mostly outrunning supply, except for - well - exceptions. Stanleytam Posted May 15, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 15, 2010 Collectible Cameras in Phoenix AZ has a "demo" M9 available for $5995 US. Does this mean that the supply is starting to catch up, and that I'll be able to finally afford one? Collectible Cameras Thank you very much for providing this information. I have been waiting for my M9 steel grey body from Vistek Camera since Dec 29 and they just said that will be Summer time if there is any delivery. I have decided to purchase this demo unit immediately. If I get the confirmation of my order on Monday from Collectible Cameras, I'll cancel the one from Vistek. Thanks again for the info. The listing is gone now since I put the order in already. Stanley
norm_snyder Posted May 16, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted May 16, 2010 I'm glad that someone is going to pick it up, since I can't really afford it right now. Maybe when some owner of an ex-demo gets tired of it...I hope this establishes a price for minty used ones, which means that maybe in a while, I could hope to find a genuine used one in the range of 5+K US. I'll use my M8s a while longer. Actually, I used to live in Phoenix, and these are good people to deal with. I think Sandy Ritz still owns it, is a good guy, and they seem to get interesting gear, fairly priced. Congratulations, and good luck.

Have fun! Hi Richard, Did your "Pre-owned" unit come with warranty? What color is the body? The one I bought yesterday from Collectible Carmera is a demo unit. I believe it should have a full warranty as a brand new unit. Demo unit should have no registration until it is sold to a owner just like automobile. I'll find out more detail from the store to-morrow when they open at 8:30am. Stanley

Stanley My is a Leica Certified pre-owned with one year warranty. My guess is that some guy bought it 09/09/09, used it for a couple months, and wanted a steel gray or something (mine is black) :-), Aside from a bright spot on the corner, it was good as new and never given me any trouble. I am close to 10,000 frames so far in 3 months....

I'll be the first original owner and he said the camera is just like brand new. Will ship out to-morrow. I feel very lucky now after waiting 5 months for the Steel Grey body. Thanks. Stanleytam Posted May 18, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 18, 2010 Stanley-- It sounds like you got a great deal. Enjoy. Thanks. The Grey M9 body is shipping out to-day. After paying all the custums duties and taxes as well as handling charges. It will be almost the same price as brand new. However, at least I do not have to wait for another few months (or more) from Canadian dealer. The wait is finally over.
