Juan B Posted May 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a Summaron 35/3,5 SM, for my IIIf, that I use it with the VIOOH. I have the converter ring from screw mount to M mount but I'm thinking if there are any "eyes" for use it with my M3 (the M3 does not have frame lines for 35mm) or the only way is using the VIOOH too. Advertisement Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hi Juan B, Take a look here Summaron SM for a M3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
doubice Posted May 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 15, 2010 Juan, The 'eyes' only came with 35mm lenses designed specifically for the M3 and cannot be used with with other lenses. If you wish to use your 35mm Summaron on the M3, you can use either the VIOOH for framing or, one of the many 35mm finders from Leica or Voigtlander. Rangefinder coupling is of course fully functional and focusing is the same as on your IIIf. Additionally - depending on which converter adapter you have with the lens, you will have either the 50mm, 90mm or the 135mm frame lines displayed. If the lens has the 35mm / 135mm adapter, you will only see the 135mm frame - as you know, the M3 does not have a 35mm frame. During my M3 times, I used the 50mm adapter as that gave me an unobstructed finder view. However - no matter which adapter you use, the focusing will be accurate and framing will have to be done through the accessory viewfinder. Juan B Posted May 15, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted May 15, 2010 Thank you Jan. I suspected it but now I know sure. I have ring converters for 35, 50 and 90mm. I think that I'll use the Summaron with the 50mm ring too. Juan.
