Hi,

I'm new to the forum, I'm new to Leica too. I've just bought a Leica X1 and I have a question about the USB Cable.

The manual states to use only the USB cable provided but ... well I have already USB cables that I use with my other cameras (Panasonic, Nikon, Fuji). They all look the same.

Can I use them ?

It will bother me to have to plug/unplug the Leica cable all the time.

If I plug, say a wrong cable, will it possibly damage the X1, or just don't work ?

Thanks in advance

patrick

There is nothing special about the Leica cable...

They just mean two things: #1 is to make sure the cable you use has the standard mini-USB connector that properly fits the camera on its end. The other end doesn't matter as long as it fits wherever it's supposed to go. But #2 is very important - the cable must be a standard low-voltage USB 1 or USB 2 cable that will not carry a current that can harm the X1's electronics, and what you plug it into should be appropriate for transferring the data.
