my screen fell off. kindly it just sort of hung there after i put it down on the table. anyone had this problem happen? seems like whatever adhesive was used just gave up. figuring this would be an easy fix i called new jersey and spoke with parts dept who let me know that can only replace the whole back. kinda figured theyd say that . ..

 

so anyone? love to not be the first with this problem.

I managed to make mine come off a long time ago after applying heat from a hair dryer so that I could remove a broken Giottos screen that was on it. In my case I was able to simply push it back on and it stuck back on along with the friction fit.

 

If you want to stick it back on (after you've thoroughly cleaned the LCD and cover btw), you could look at simply using a contact adhesive. Worst case is that it'll look better than gaffer tape. I would watch out for any adhesive out-gassing though and creating the newton ring effect that some others have had happen.

hear you on the rings or any other possibility. maybe some well cut thin industrial double sided tape.

I think the glass is glued using a UV cured adhesive which is why it's not a "field" operation. If you have the m8 upgraded to sapphire glass, you get a whole new rear casting.

 

I agree that well cut clear double sided tape might be preferable to sending the camera back to Leica.
